Corn Feed :: History
In the early 80s the Cupertino host lions thought that it would be a good idea to start a community based BBQ. This event would bring families together within the blackberry farm to have family fun, meet new citizens and enjoy food like they have never had before the sausage would of course be Italian sausage but the meet would be wild boar. Fresh corn, picked that very day and cooked just moments before it was consumed, is very popular, BBQ chicken seasoned Cupertino host lions style is served piping hot. Various breads, a green salad and Texas jackrabbit chili beans are included. For about 2 hours before dinner freshly prepared calamari and corn prepared by the Corn king Lion Jack Feineman his lips are sealed so don't even try to get his ancestral recipe.
Baskets of very nice raffle prizes are distributed to the lucky ticket holders it is encouraged to get tickets and compete for the baskets that you would love to win games are available for the young set some bouncing houses are inflated and open for all for fun and enjoyment a dunk tank permits young folks to throw a baseball at a target and dunk the unlucky person sitting on the seat above the tank. Various sodas cold beer and wine are available during the hors d'ouvers hour and dinnertime.
The chicken corn and sausage feed is being scheduled for a Saturday afternoon. The public swimming pool is open to all during the daylight hours, parking is provided very close to the dinning area. The afternoon hours seem to be perfect for this event, a family affair and neighborhood reunion.
The club committee plans this event and spends the Friday afternoon preceding the event to do the preliminary food preparation. The cooking is started on Saturday and scheduled to be able to serve it with little or no delay. This is truly fresh.
