Fish-A-Thon :: About
Each participant will be assigned a Lions Club member or a volunteer to assist them in catching their limit of fish.
Fishing poles and bait will be provided.
Lions Club member will clean and ice your fish to take home.
BBQ Lunch: Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Potato Chips, Soft Drinks and Desert.
Only participants with special needs are allowed to fish.
Family members are welcome to watch and have lunch.
Steven's Creek Quarry makes this event possible. Please respect their private property. Park as directed.
The Fish-A-Thon started with Dave Voss and Pete Camarda deciding to provide a fishing experience so that people with special needs could develop new skills and have an enjoyable day. The Fish-A-Thon started in the early sixties, and has been an active program in the community for 49 years. All participants have lunch provided by the Cupertino Host Lions Club.
The Fish-A-Thon is for kids of all ages with special needs. Participants come individual invites, invites to group homes, invites to organizations such as Via Services/Camp Castonoan, Parents Helping Parents, Santa Clara Valley Blind Center and invites to Special Education classes.
Interested volunteers should contact Jim Isaacson 408-986-3653-w or 408-278-7077-h. Volunteers are needed to help participants fish, to help manage the registration and distribution of participants, and to help serve food. Volunteers are invited to breakfast and lunch.
